domestic violence
Domestic violence doesn’t just mean that someone has been physically abused. Victims of domestic violence may experience many kinds of abuse, including emotional, sexual, social and economic abuse. Victims may be put down, told they are worthless, forced to have intercourse, cut off from friends and family members, or forbidden from having a job or accessing family financial resources. The feelings of guilt and shame that surround the idea that someone close to you would do this often prevent victims from talking about it, even to their most trusted friends.
The Domestic Violence Awareness Program at Mercy Home supports and advocates for people experiencing abusive relationships all over Cascade County and beyond. We believe that no one deserves to be mistreated or abused.
