Frequently asked questions about Donations.
How much can I donate?
We only accept 1-2 bags or boxes per person per week.
What can I donate?
For Y’s Buys: We accept clothing for women, men and children. We also accept shoes and accessories (i.e., purses, jewelry, belts, hats, etc.).
For Mercy Home: We accept nearly new bedding for twin or queen beds. Pillows that are basically new, barely used. Unopened hygiene products (shampoo or conditioner, hair styling products, feminine hygiene, body wash, lotions, etc.). Towels and wash rags. Cleaning supplies. Detergents (laundry & dishwasher). Paper products (toilet paper, paper towels). Women’s new underwear (size small and medium). Shelf stable foods (canned, boxed, etc.). Snack foods (granola bars, fruit snack, fruit cups, etc.).
What kind of clothing do you accept?
All donations should be washed and cleaned. They should be free of stains, marks, holes, or tears. They should preferably be seasonal donations and not too outdated in style. We are always short on space and cannot keep or store clothing for too long.
Where do my donations go?
All the donations are put in our Y’s Buys thrift store. We keep the prices low and affordable and all proceeds go to helping fund the Mercy Home Program. The Mercy Home issues vouchers to each resident (including any children) to keep them dressed appropriately for the seasons for no cost. Some of the donations are put aside for the residents specifically, such as socks, underwear, basic t-shirts, sweats, and casual clothing for daily use and emergency clothing.
