BOARD MEMBER

Are you passionate about empowering women, supporting survivors, advancing racial justice, and creating a stronger community for everyone?

YWCA Great Falls is looking for community-minded leaders who are ready to put their experience, perspective, and passion to work. Our Board of Directors plays an important role in shaping the future of YWCA Great Falls and ensuring that our organization remains strong, sustainable, accountable, and responsive to the needs of our community. This is more than a volunteer position. It is an opportunity to help create lasting change.

WHY SERVE ON THE YWCA GREAT FALLS BOARD?

For more than 100 years, YWCA Great Falls has been part of the fabric of our community. Today, we provide critical services to women, children, and families throughout North Central Montana—including emergency shelter and advocacy for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Our work is complex. Our community's needs are changing. And our future depends on strong, engaged leadership.

As a Board member, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Help shape the strategic direction and future of YWCA Great Falls

  • Advocate for women, children, survivors, and marginalized members of our community

  • Use your professional skills and lived experience to strengthen our organization

  • Help ensure responsible financial and organizational stewardship

  • Build relationships with community leaders, businesses, foundations, and partners

  • Support fundraising and resource development

  • Raise awareness of the work and impact of YWCA Great Falls

  • Learn more about the issues affecting women, families, and survivors in our community

  • Be part of a team committed to creating meaningful, lasting change

WHAT DOES BOARD SERVICE LOOK LIKE?

Board members are expected to actively participate in the governance and advancement of YWCA Great Falls.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Attend Board meetings
Participate in regularly scheduled Board meetings, review materials in advance, and contribute thoughtfully to discussions and decisions.

  • Serve on a committee
Board members are encouraged to participate in at least one Board committee or other area of organizational work.

  • Support the mission
Understand and champion the mission, programs, values, and strategic priorities of YWCA Great Falls.

  • Provide oversight
Help ensure the organization is financially responsible, legally compliant, ethical, and sustainable.

  • Support fundraising and development
Board members are ambassadors and advocates. This does not mean every Board member needs to be a professional fundraiser—but everyone should be willing to help open doors, make connections, share our story, and support resource development.

  • Be an ambassador in the community
Represent YWCA Great Falls positively and help others understand why our work matters.

  • Come prepared and engaged
Board service is most effective when members ask questions, participate in discussions, follow through on commitments, and work collaboratively.
